Recommends: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The narration is unique and all characters are developed, complex creations. This story has stayed with me for years.

Recommends: Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson. I’m doing it for my Postcolonial Environments module and it explores so many important issues!

Recommends: The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. I read this book last year on recommendation and absolutely loved it. I somehow became more invested in the characters and their relationship to one another than in the giant, mythical serpent of the title, a testament to the compelling nature of Perry’s writing. Definitely a page turner!
